Power Inverters
These convert battery or PV DC power to household AC power. Battery based inverters come in basically 2 types:
modified sine wave or square wave and sine wave. Sine wave is comparable to your household grid power and some
inverters may actually produce a more reliable sine wave than your utility.
Modified sine wave inverters are a less expensive inverter producing a wave form that is square and not rounded like
true sign wave units. These can make motors run hotter, some appliances will make different noises when operated by
modified sine wave inverters. Sensitive equipment may not even run using these.
Some inverters offer battery charging, hard wire capability (wire to sub panels) sleep modes and other bells and
whistles. While others may only offer a dual receptacle to plug your appliance in to.
